5 Celebrities Who Won’t Leave Country If Trump Is President
07, NovBy Katie Kieffer

So maybe we’ll loose Cher, Lena Dunham and Whoopi Goldberg—but many beloved athletes, tech entrepreneurs, actors and entertainers will stay in America if Trump becomes our next President.
“If ROMNEY gets elected I don’t know if i can breathe same air as Him,” Cher tweeted (grammar errors hers) in the 2012 election cycle. This time around, Cher tweeted that if Trump is elected: “I’m moving to Jupiter.” Dunham and Goldberg issued similar threats. Continue reading

Phantom of the Election
31, OctBy Katie Kieffer

Phantom of the Opera, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s worldwide hit musical, is often heard at Donald Trump’s rallies—an omen of the surprise that American voters are quietly planning for Hillary Clinton.
Halloween is a fitting day to discuss haunts—so today I will explain why, even if you won’t vote for Trump, you should never vote for Clinton. She is an antihero who employs similar tactics to Webber’s villain in Phantom of the Opera. Clinton is a less sympathetic villain than the Phantom—but the analogy still holds. (Alert: mild spoilers will follow.) Continue reading

True Crimes vs. Gossip
17, OctBy Katie Kieffer

WikiLeaks released a cache of hard evidence of Hillary Clinton’s criminal mindset and public deception—yet all we hear is baseless gossip about “Trump’s women.” Let’s be real: WikiLeaks findings and the story of Kathy Shelton impugn Hillary’s ability to serve as president.
“Trump is a groping octopus!” is the message you’ve heard from media networks. Nearly every day, a new woman claims Trump managed the impossible feat of groping her like an “octopus” in a public place—like a New York night club while she was sitting with friends, or on an airplane where she was surrounded by stewardesses and passengers. Continue reading

When Refugees Get An Olympic Team
06, JunBy Katie Kieffer

Allowing refugees to compete in the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil won’t solve the global refugee crisis—but it will benefit political opportunists.
Last week, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) announced that it had selected 10 athletes—four females and six males—to compete in Rio. The refugees will carry the IOC flag, since they have no common national flag. Continue reading

Sex and Gossip: Millennials Just Roll Their Eyes
30, MarBy Katie Kieffer

“Pervy Ted Cruz Caught Cheating!” The National Enquirer proclaimed last week.
Twitter erupted with the hashtag #CruzSexScandal.
To a casual observer, false claims of Cruz’s “5 Secret Mistresses!” might have seemed to sink his ship. But a new poll reveals millennials definitively favor Cruz over Trump or Clinton. Continue reading

Poor Millennials, Afflicted by Pauperenza
21, MarBy Katie Kieffer

“Affluenza” is the new term for youth who grow unstable due to wealth. “Pauperenza” is my term for Millennials who lose touch with reality due to poverty. Pop star Justin Bieber gets arrested in Miami Beach for getting high and clocking 136 mph while drag racing in a Lamborghini. Bernie Sanders fans pout and shout: Free College! Universal Debt Forgiveness! $15 Minimum Wage! Rich or poor, the kids are not all right.
A survey by Harris Poll last month found that Millennials fear taxes more than any other generation. 80% of young people ages 18-34 tell pollsters they shudder at the thought of paying and filing taxes. Yet my young peers clamor for programs that will ultimately raise their taxes. Continue reading

Cisco Kid-Pancho (Cruz-Rubio)
07, MarBy Katie Kieffer

Choose adventure! Choose romance! Choose the Robin Hood of Washington: “Cisco Kid” Ted Cruz and his ideal sidekick “Pancho” Marco Rubio! My parents grew up watching two heroic Hispanic partners – The Cisco Kid and Pancho – fight crime in the hit Western, The Cisco Kid. My generation should encourage Rubio to join Cruz so this dynamic duo can beat Donald Trump – and then Hillary Clinton – and finally… win the White House!
Today I’ll make the case for Rubio to join Cruz. For Rubio supporters, this is Rubio’s best opportunity to influence this election. For those who want a non-Trump candidate to beat Hillary—without alienating Trump voters—a Cruz-Rubio ticket is also your best bet. Continue reading

Star Wars: 5 Political Lessons
21, DecBy Katie Kieffer

Star Wars offers five priceless political lessons that the newest movie, The Force Awakens, reminds us to exercise. Grab your lightsaber and fear not: I’ll steer clear of spoilers as I explain how we can take back our American Dreams.
In Star Wars, as in politics, there is a “Force”—or power—that can be wielded for good or for evil. Jedis trained to use the Force for noble purposes, whereas the Sith exploited the Force for evil. Here’s how we can train ourselves—and our politicians—to use political power for good. Continue reading

You’re never too young—or too grown up—to benefit from reading. Today I’ll also explain why children benefit the most when mothers—and especially fathers—make reading a family affair. Here are two reasons to read more: Continue reading
